George Galloway for Holborn and St Pancras

PRESS RELEASE – GEORGE GALLOWAY OUR CANDIDATE

The Political Committee of the Workers Party tonight met and selected George Galloway to run as our candidate in Holborn & St Pancras. We thank the other applicants who put themselves forward.

Our party will offer voters something different.
We believe the political focus should be centred on wages, housing, energy, peace, public services and national renewal. Currently no other candidate offers the voters this choice.

The Greens with their support for the assisted dying Bill, and reckless backing for the war in Ukraine just this last week have shown voters they cannot be trusted to make choices that reflect the views of the majority of Britons. They are no alternative.

At a time when millions are struggling to heat their homes, pay their rent and provide for their families, we believe politics must focus on bread-and-butter issues and the economic wellbeing of ordinary people. Greens and Labour support sending endless £billions to Ukraine. Instead of addressing poverty, immigration, energy prices, they were voting together last week to introduce legislation to make killing people legal. We believe voters will welcome the chance to reject this madness.

We believe Britain's future lies in reindustrialisation, national sovereignty and economic policies that put workers, communities and productive industry first. For these reasons, we believe voters deserve a genuine socialist alternative, not simply another variation of the existing political consensus.
