Outside of Moscow, Bolivar Hall was the place to be, as the Workers Party hosted a special commemoration event in central London to remember the sacrifices made by our allies in the defeat of Hitler fascism. Dignitaries at the event included diplomats representing Russia, Belarus and China, along with speakers from No Conscription League, No2Nato, socialist friends of China, and Workers Party of Britain.
Unlike our political class and mainstream media, we salute the sacrifices made by ALL allied forces!
The meeting closed by adopting the following resolution:
CLOSING RESOLUTION
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the great victory won by our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, this meeting remembers with pride and immense gratitude the sacrifices made in the struggle against imperialism and fascism.
This meeting demonstrates that the British people have not forgotten our war time allies, and though our ruling class are hostile to you, we are not. British working people remember the unity of the Allied nations and we condemn those who today desecrate the memory of our common struggle in the hope of falsifying history and sowing enmity amongst the people of Britain, Russia and China.
The old world is in crisis, new unity is being forged by those who seek the road of peace and construction and we desire Britain to recognise the inevitability of the strengthening of the forces of multipolarity, to refrain from acts of unilateralism and bullying, and promote an equal and just multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic co-operation between the nations.
We pledge to fight today for the same unity previous generations achieved in the fight against Nazism and fascism, so that there may be peace in the world and not death.
Long live the memory of our past co-operation, the friendship amongst our people and the example of the past, let it show us the path to take today.
